A similar story is the use of the word fascism. I started using the word during the criminal bush/cheney (and then Snot Walker in Cheeseland) era and was frequently told by people who generally agreed with me that the word should not be used because people won’t like “us”. I would respond then by saying “they don’t like us now”. Now “fascism” is a word used by corporate media on occasion. Well, Germans who supported Nazis were fascists, duh. The duck is walkin’ and quackin’ more loudly than ever and I quit Maher some years ago because he is frequently incapable of hearing/seeing or both.
It’s ok to say that we “renditioned” “terrorists” to “camps” and people looked away. Obama said, “We tortured some folks” and added “we need to look forward” which caused me to tell my HS History students that he just made my profession obsolete.
Yeah, we see the warning signs. We know how dictators operate. The question is, why this is being ignored and allowed to continue in America? Every day it is something more horrific that this administration is doing… where is the line drawn?
Gore is absolutely correct. Trump, MAGA, may not be a WWII NAZI, but he hates people, loves chaos, has a penchant for violence, but he is a coward. Think of MAGA AS those same NAZIS.
You have so eloquently said everything that I have been thinking. I have wanted more information about Hitler’s rise to power due to what is happening here. I started watching every documentary I could stream. The parallels of Hitler’s early years and trumps rise to power and his time in office are exceedingly terrifying. The following rights have either been lost or are in danger of being eradicated: the right to free speech, right to freedom of expression, right to information, violation of children’s rights, right to freedom from interference with privacy, family, home and correspondence, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, rights of migrants, due process, right to asylum in other countries from persecution, right to health, liberty and personal security, women’s rights, right to education, right to marriage and family, freedom from torture and degrading treatment, right to free movement in and out of the country, right to a healthy environment, right to life, right to freedom of discrimination on grounds of race, nationality and religion, right to privacy, right to desirable work and to join trade unions, women’s right to health, women’s right to life, right to equality before the law and equal protection, right to seek and enjoy asylum, right to life of asylum seekers, right to fulfillment of economic and social rights, right to freedom from arbitrary detention. This is not the end of the list.

When trump came down that golden escalator 10 years ago blathering about migrants, my partner and I started talking about how bad things could get. Anyone listening that day should not be surprised by what is happening.
Amen. We must continue to call Nazism what it is.
Bill Maher can pound sand.

Yes, History matters.
Wow! One of the clearest, most eloquent expositions of our current situation I have read. Thank you!
Thank you. That's kind of you. I am sorry we're here.
I love Al Gore. We need in in government or on the nightly news. He gets it.

Bill Maher sucks and his show. Boycott the bastard.

Nazis. Nazi, Nazi, Nazi, and also Nazi. I agree that Nazis must be called Nazis for the sake of preventing historical repetition. ☮️
I like Al Gore. I used to like Maher.
Al Gore for the win! Stepping up with passion for our country!
Speak AL GORE!!
Exactly following
But Bill thinks Trump is an ok guy!
Maher is a shameless opportunist!
