I made the same comparison back in November of 2015, a year before Trump was elected the first time. Only one person, author Sarah Kendzior, agreed with me in projecting what would become of this country if Trump gained power. An editor from a major national magazine told me “any comparison between the US and 1930s Europe is hyperbolic and not something we would ever consider publishing.” That is how we ended up here, and still, most people in the media say it’s irresponsible to liken Trump to Hitler because even though he has modeled his entire political career on Hitler’s political career…well, it’s distasteful to say so. The reality people don’t want to acknowledge is that Hitler was a chaotic politician with a cult following that grew into an entire nationwide cult, and people think “Hitler equals death camps,” but he had a 20-year-long political career before he got that far. Everyone has chosen to keep their eyes closed.
I wrote this a full decade ago. Please help wake everyone up to what has been happening for 10 years, regardless of mass denial.
I also revised the U.S. Declaration of Independence back in 2017 to reflect our country’s status at the time. How do you think it holds up?
